Dear OMS Families,
Our Parent Club put on a rockin’ Blue and Gold Dinner and Auction! Thank you to Nicole Azar, Becky Kingman, Maxi and Drew Koven, Monica Portesi, Susie Brans, Darren Smith, Justin Martella, and all of our generous donors! We are so grateful for the wonderful event and the funds raised to help improve Old Mission School’s programs and facilities. We are already looking forward to next year!
One of the fun things people bid on for the Blue and Gold Auction is Principal for the Day! This coming Monday, Jordan Koven will serve as Principal. One of the things he gets to do is choose the dress theme and he chose Sports Jerseys! Students may wear black or blue jeans along with their jerseys. Thank you, Jordan! A new auction item this year is Be the Office Boss with BJ. David Calhoun will get to welcome visitors, write tardy slips and pass out lunches. Thank you to all of our families who participated in the auction!
The Variety Show was also a great success! Thank you to Danica Boyle and Lauren Yee for their time organizing and putting on the event. Our participating students performed beautifully!
Our eighth graders will finish up their journey at OMS this coming week. The Baccalaureate Mass will take place on Wednesday at 8:30 am. Their last day of school is Thursday, May 25. Friday will be a minimum day for TK-seventh grade students, and the eighth grade graduation ceremony will occur that afternoon. We are excited to celebrate our scholars' accomplishments of the four Core Values - Faith, Service, Scholarship, and Leadership. They are prepared to be the Christian leaders our world needs. This year, Claire Guyader is Old Mission School’s valedictorian. It’s been a joy to watch her grow into an amazing eighth-grade scholar. Many other students will also be recognized for their stellar accomplishments—not only for excellence in their academics but also for athletics, artistic ability, perseverance, service to others, and Christian spirit.
This weekend will be a special one for many of our second graders who will celebrate their First Communion at Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. We hope you can make it to one of the Masses and help celebrate this blessed event in their lives. On Friday, May 31, they will help our fifth graders host our End-of-the-Year Mass at 8:15. You are always invited to attend school Masses. The End-of-the-Year Mass will be followed by 6th- and 7th-grade subject awards.
Get ready for 7th grade’s Falcon Fun Day on Wednesday, May 29! They will start serving lunch at noon then begin games and activities immediately after. Games will end at regular dismissal times. Ticket and pizza lunch purchases are due today. Funds will go toward 8th grader’s field trip next year.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Blessings,
Tess Barket
